Our History Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle

Forty years of excellence in serving the youth of the Georgian Triangle

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle came from the creation of two separate organizations designed to help young men and young women and provide them with role models and the chance to become a viable part of their communities.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle was born in 2003 when two long standing organizations merged to better serve the children and youth of the area.  Big Brothers of South Georgian Bay opened its doors in 1970 when a group of area professionals saw a need for a program that would support young boys who were without a male influence in their lives.  Big Sisters of Nottawasaga followed suite in 1977 and began s erving you girls who were in need of friendship and support. Over the years the two agencies provided Big Brother and Big Sister mentors for hundreds of area children.  The merger of the two agencies in 2003 has resulted in added strength and resources and has allowed the agency to expand its programming and serve more children each year.

Big Brothers Bis Sisters of the Georgian Triangle now serves five municipalities: Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview Township, Town of Blue Mountains and Meaford.  These five municipalities cover an extensive area of geography and a populations of approximately 65,000.
